Yes, Ben, There is a God... and His Name is Mark Moss-Gibbs

The formerly sorry, good-for-nothing, over-paid, primadonna, 'Skins are 3-o. They're making up for all their pathetic 4th quarter losses of the past decade. Is Joe Gibbs a genius or just a good luck charm? I don't know. The fact remains that we are still atop the NFC East after a quarter of the season has been played out. The last time this happened we went to the Superbowl. I don't forsee that happening this season, but it finally looks like a distinct possibility before Gibbs' second tenure is over.

Also, 'Skins fans at the bar I was in broke into a chorus of "Hail to the Redskins" after we scored that field goal in OT. It was too weird, yet heartwarming. "Hail to the Redskins/hail victory" indeed.

Oh, I dunno. We certainly often look like the worst 3-0 team ever. If you check out that stats though, it doesn't look like Indianapolis is any better than Washington. We're about as far ahead of them on defense as they are ahead of us on offense.

We're finally not killing ourselves with penalties too. That was probably the most discouraging thing last season. We looked like a bunch of amatuers with 12 men on the field half the time and a billion delay of game penalties. I think we're 4th best in the league right now in terms of not making those kinds of idiot mistakes (Indianapolis being one of those teams ahead of us). It seems to be paying off too.

I don't think we'll be sweeping anyone in our division this year and I'm not particularly optimistic that we'll make it to the playoffs, but still... I am impressed with the progress since last season. I'd be perfectly content with an 8-8 season.

I will agree that Gibbs' does not know how to use Portis yet. He never should have tried to acquire him to begin with. Portis is does not have the build that Gibbs really wants in a back. However I think our big problem, more than anything else right now, is our offensive line, which is about as leaky as a whiffle ball. Clinton Portis will never average 5.5 yards a game with this line no matter what plays Gibbs calls.
